Duties of Editors

Editorial responsibilities and ethical principles

1. Publication Decisions

The Editor of the Jurnal Farmasi Teknologi Sediaan dan Kosmetika (JFTSK) is responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published. The validation of the work and its importance to researchers and readers must always guide such decisions.

Editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's Editorial Board and constrained by applicable legal requirements concerning libel, copyright infringement, plagiarism, and other relevant matters. Editors may consult other editors or reviewers when making publication decisions.

2. Fair Play

Editors shall evaluate manuscripts solely on the basis of their intellectual and scientific content without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, political philosophy, or other personal characteristics of the authors.

3. Confidentiality

The Editor and editorial staff must not disclose information concerning a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an Editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

Responsibilities in maintaining the quality and integrity of peer review

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists the Editor in making editorial decisions. Through editorial communications with authors, reviewers may also assist authors in improving the quality of their manuscripts.

Promptness

Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that a prompt review will be impossible should notify the Editor and withdraw from the review process.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the Editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly and provide appropriate supporting arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Statements that an observation, derivation, or argument has previously been reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation.

Reviewers should also bring to the Editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and other published works of which they have personal knowledge.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and must not be used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with authors, companies, or institutions associated with the manuscript.

Duties of Authors

Ethical responsibilities of authors submitting manuscripts to JFTSK

1. Reporting Standards

Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the manuscript.

A manuscript should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

2. Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked to provide raw data related to their manuscript for editorial review and should be prepared to provide public access to such data, where practicable and appropriate, consistent with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases . Authors should also retain such data for a reasonable period following publication.

3. Originality and Plagiarism

Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works. If authors have used the work and/or words of others, these must be appropriately cited or quoted.

4. Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not generally publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

5. Acknowledgement of Sources

Proper acknowledgement of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature and direction of the reported research.

6. Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All individuals who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors.

Individuals who have participated in substantive aspects of the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be appropriately acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all appropriate co-authors, and no inappropriate co-authors, are included in the manuscript and that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version and agreed to its submission for publication.

7. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscripts any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might be construed as influencing the results or interpretation of their work. All sources of financial support for the research project should also be disclosed.

8. Fundamental Errors in Published Works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is the author's obligation to promptly notify the Journal Editor or publisher and cooperate with the Editor to retract, correct, or otherwise appropriately amend the published article.

Ethical Commitment

Integrity, Transparency and Scientific Responsibility

JFTSK is committed to maintaining the integrity of scholarly communication through transparent editorial practices, responsible authorship, objective peer review, and adherence to internationally recognized principles of publication ethics.
