Definition
What Is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is the use of another person's words, ideas, data, arguments, or other intellectual contributions without proper acknowledgement and presenting such material as one's own work.
To avoid plagiarism, copied or substantially reproduced material must be clearly distinguished from the author's original work, and appropriate credit must be given through proper citation and acknowledgement of the original source. Plagiarism constitutes a serious violation of academic and publication ethics.
Scope of the Plagiarism Definition
This definition applies to copied text, ideas, data, and other intellectual material regardless of the following circumstances:
01. Regardless of the source of the copied text, data, or idea.
02. Regardless of whether the author of the original material may have obtained the same material from another source.
03. Regardless of whether the authorship of the copied material is known or unknown.
04. Regardless of the type of publication or document into which the copied material is incorporated, including journal articles, books, web pages, reports, theses, dissertations, or academic assignments.
05. Regardless of whether permission has been granted to reproduce the material when appropriate citation and acknowledgement are still required.
06. Regardless of whether the author is also the author of the previously published source, including inappropriate duplication or self-plagiarism.
Editorial Actions on Plagiarism
Actions are determined according to the nature and extent of detected plagiarism
When potential plagiarism is identified through plagiarism detection software or editorial assessment, the Editorial Board will evaluate the manuscript and determine appropriate action based on the extent and seriousness of the issue.
